With the continuing adoption of HDTV signals, there is an ever increasing need to monitor data within the vertical ancillary (VANC) space of SMPTE 292M signals. Carriage of data inside the VANC allow it to be switched, routed, and stored while remaining associated with the program content.
Intended for use during contribution, distribution, and emission of HDTV, VANC Monitor software provides VANC monitoring of:
Audio Metadata
Closed Captioning
Active Format Description (AFD) and Bar Data
Broadcast Flag
DID / SDID usage
DID / SDID packet data (hexadecimal dump)
Designed to work with the TTX890 and TTX891 Multi-format HD/SD-SDI TV Data De-embedder / Decoder cards, VANC Monitor software automatically alerts you to missing or missed-matched VANC data, based on your pre-defined criteria.
Now production and post-production houses can examine their HDTV output to insure audio metadata and caption data are as intended, prior to delivery to networks and stations.
Networks and stations can scrutinize HDTV signals at ingest to ensure audio metadata and captions are present and as expected. They can also monitor VANC data at other critical points in their plant to, for example, check if the full CEA-708 caption stream (including embedded CEA-608 captions) and the broadcast flag are all present.
Like all Norpak encoder/ decoder based products, this flexible solution is designed to grow as your needs grow. Monitoring capability of future VANC data types can be added as industry demands dictate.
